KIEV, July 16 - The driver of the ambulance from the presidential motorcade - Mykola Demydenko, an employee of the motor depot of the State Affairs Department - faces from three to eight years of imprisonment in connection with an April 21 accident which killed a taxi driver and injured two passengers.
The Komsomolskaya Pravda in Ukraine newspaper reported on Saturday, that at the first sitting of the court held on Thursday, Demydenko fully admitted his guilt, saying he was driving at a speed of 150 kilometers per hour in order to catch up with the presidential motorcade, which he accompanied. According to Demydenko, he saw a signal of traffic controller when he was only 215 meters from the accident site and was not able to avoid the collision.
