KIEV, July 13 – The Yulia Tymoshenko Bloc, the largest opposition group in Parliament, said Tuesday it will appeal to the Constitutional Court to revoke controversial legislation that restricts many parties ahead of October 31 local elections.
In its first official reaction to the legislation since it was approved on Saturday, the Tymoshenko group said the bill was “obviously unconstitutional.”
“The unconstitutionality was so obvious that it cannot be ignored even by the current Constitutional Court, even after the [recent] appointment of [President Viktor] Yanukovych’s ally as the head of the court,” the Tymoshenko group said in a statement.
