Upcoming talks with Romania to deal with Danube border dispute
Journal Staff Report

KIEV, April 14 – Ukraine has no plans to change the line of its border with Romania along the River Danube, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleh Voloshyn, told Interfax-Ukraine that in the situation which occurred over Maikan Island on the Danube the Ukrainian side proceeds from the principle of the non-violation of the agreement between Ukraine and Romania of 2003, which stipulates the inviolability of the state border.

"That's why the Ukrainian side doesn't intend to change the line of the border in this area, and all disputable issues arising because of the desire of the Romanian side to make relevant changes, will be discussed by the border services, as well as during talks scheduled for April 27 between Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Kostiantyn Yeliseyev and State Secretary for Foreign Affairs of Romania Bogdan Mazuru," Voloshyn said.
