Deutsche Welle: New Ukrainian government is Europe’s largest

KIEV, March 16 – The new Ukrainian government consists of 29 ministers, which is the highest number of ministers in Europe.

"A total of 16-18 ministers work in an ordinary government of democratic Europe, including a premier and his or her deputies. In particular, the cabinets of Germany, Portugal and Spain have such a number of portfolios," Deutsche Welle reported.


Tymoshenko proposes close ally as opposition government premier

More Ukrainians feeling effects of global crisis, poll shows

KIEV, March 13 – The number of Ukrainians hit by the global financial crisis has drastically increased in the last several months.

A poll conducted by the Razumkov Centre for Economic and Political Studies from Feb. 27 through March 2 shows 83.2% of respondents say they felt the effects of the crisis, some 13.2% have not and another 3.6% said it was hard to say.


Ukraine negotiating to export 50 An-148 aircraft, says premier

KIEV, March 16 – Ukraine is negotiating on a contract for the supply of 50 An-148 airplanes to another country, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko said.

"We are discussing a deal for the supply of 50 aircraft with another state," the premier said at a meeting with the employees of Kiev's Aviant state aircraft plant on Monday.
