Ukraine prepares for Defense Industries Forum to be held in autumn
KYIV, Aug 16 – Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, Defense Minister Oleksiy Reznikov and Minister for Strategic Industries Oleksandr Kamyshyn held a coordination meeting at the Foreign Ministry on Wednesday to prepare for the Defense Industries Forum that will be held in autumn.

Russian drones attack grain storages, again
KYIV, Aug 16 - Russian drones pounded grain storage facilities and ports along the Danube River that Ukraine has increasingly relied on as an alternative transport route to Europe, after Moscow broke off a key wartime shipping agreement using the Black Sea.

Group propose new sanctions on firms supplying components to Russia
KYIV, Aug 17 – The McFaul-Yermak Group will soon publish additional proposals to strengthen sanctions against companies and individuals that, bypassing sanctions, supply Russia with high-tech components for production of weapons, in particular K-52 helicopters, head of the President's Office of Ukraine Andriy Yermak said.

U.S. approves sending F-16 to Ukraine

Moldova seeks to modernize railway to help Ukraine export more grain
KYIV, Aug 17 - Moldova has started active cooperation with Ukraine, Romania and donor organizations to modernize its railway infrastructure in order to help Ukraine increase agricultural exports to Moldova, the countries of the European Union, the Middle East and Africa, said Deputy Prime Minister of Moldova, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration Nicu Popescu.

Share of state-owned banks in Ukraine up at 53.4%: NBU
KYIV, Aug 16 – The share of state-owned banks in the total assets of the banking system in the first half of 2022 increased from 49.8% to 53.4%, including by 1.7 percentage points (p.p.) in the second quarter, according to a review of the banking sector, published by the National Bank.

NBU chief says war of attrition requires Ukraine to change economic policy
KYIV, Aug 16 – The war with Russia is turning into a protracted battle of attrition, so it is necessary to reformat economic policy priorities for a long game, including taking decisive measures to reduce the state budget deficit and its non-equity financing, Governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Kyrylo Shevchenko has said.

Russian ammo depot in Crimea explodes
KYIV, Aug 16 - Explosions and fires ripped through an ammunition depot in Russian-occupied Crimea on Tuesday in the second suspected Ukrainian attack on the peninsula in just over a week, forcing the evacuation of more than 3,000 people, The Associated Press reported.
