Parliament overrides presidential veto of moratorium on farm sales

KIEV, Jan. 19 – Parliament has on its second attempt overridden a presidential veto of a law declaring a moratorium on farmland sales until January 1, 2012.

A total of 326 MPs out of the 466 registered in the parliament's session hall on Tuesday voted to overrule the veto.


State tax administration cites risk of 2009 budget shortfalls

KIEV, Jan. 20 – The State Tax Administration (STAU) has said that there is a risk of revenues shortfalls from excise fees in the 2009 national budget, and that it supports the increase in excise duties, its press service reported on Monday.

"Excise collection for the general fund of the national budget should be 1.6 times more than last year, while that for the special fund – almost 3.2 times more.
