Yanukovych indicted for 'mass murder'

KIEV, Feb. 24 - Ukraine's fugitive president was indicted for "mass murder" on Monday over the shooting of demonstrators as new leaders in Kiev sought urgent Western aid to make up for a loss of funding from Russia, which is angry at the overthrow of its ally.


Cabinet proposes media law changes to meet PACE recommendations

KIEV, Feb. 21 – The Cabinet of Ministers has proposed introducing amendments to the existing laws governing the activity of the media, bringing them into line with the recommendations of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on guaranteeing the transparency of media ownership, the Justice Ministry reported.

The project was discussed during a visit by NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen to Kiev for talks with Ukrainian officials over a range of issues, including missile defense.
