Kyiv’s UAH 300-mln lighting upgrade to boost street security

KYIV, Feb 26 – The upgrading of outdoor lighting in Kyiv, for which it is planned to allocate UAH 300 million this year, will increase security in the streets and save significant funds of the city budget, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said.


MPs call for investigation of Naftogaz, suspension of chairman

KIEV, Feb. 23 – A group of parliamentarians, including some members of coalition factions People's Front and Petro Poroshenko Bloc, have asked Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman for an urgent insection of the financial and economic operations of Naftogaz Ukrainy and its subsidiaries and suspend the suspension of Naftogaz Chairman Andriy Kobolev from duty.


IMF says it's still ironing out issues with Ukraine authorities

KIEV, Feb. 23 - The International Monetary Fund is still working with Ukrainian authorities to get agreement on a memorandum of cooperation, IMF spokesman Gerry Rice said.

"It is not unusual in programs, sometimes it takes a little bit of time to address the issues and the board dates are sometimes adjusted accordingly. It is really not unusual," he said during a regular press briefing in Washington.

Only 164 lawmakers backed the document at first reading on Thursday, while at least 226 supporting votes is required to pass a bill.

Ukraine signs off on military cooperation with United Arab Emirates

KIEV, Feb. 24 – The chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces General Staff, Viktor Muzhenko, has signed a document on military-technical cooperation with the United Arab Emirates in the presence of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, the president's press office said on Tuesday.
