KIEV, March 26 – A top Kiev official, who led a snow emergency response over the past four days, resigned on Tuesday in the first political fallout following the worst snowstorm in a century.


EU enlargement commissioner voices support for Ukraine gas moves

KIEV, March 23 – The European Union supports Ukraine's efforts to move towards forming a market oriented price for its gas and is willing to participate in trilateral discussions on upgrading the Ukrainian gas transportation system, EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule said during a meeting with Ukrainian Fuel and Energy Minister Yuriy Boyko in Brussels late on Thursday.


President upgrades list of national projects and boosts agency powers

KIEV, March 23 – President Viktor Yanukovych has upgraded the list of national projects and expanded the powers of the State Agency for Investment and Management of National Projects of Ukraine, the head of the agency, Vladyslav Kaskiv, said on Friday, while commenting on a presidential instruction given on March 22.


Enriched uranium shipment leaves for Russia as nuclear summit begins

KIEV, March 26 - A consignment of enriched uranium - enough to make a nuclear weapon, according to a U.S. expert - rumbled out of a Ukrainian railway depot late on Saturday bound for Russia, a move designed to coincide with an international summit on nuclear security, Reuters reported.
