Budget deficit shrinks in July, driven by increased revenues
KIEV, Sept. 2 – Ukraine's national budget deficit in July fell to UAH 200 million from UAH 7.7 billion in June, which was the result of both increased revenues and reduced expenses in absolute terms, according to a macroeconomic overview the National Bank of Ukraine has posted on its website. |

Ukraine starts massive imports of European gas via Slovakian pipeline
KIEV, Sept. 2 - Ukraine on Tuesday started massive imports of European natural gas via the Vojany-Uzhgorog Slovakian gas pipeline, the government reported in a statement.
Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk, jointly with his Slovakian counterpart Robert Fico, attended the ceremony to open commercial supplies of gas via the pipeline. |

Government to stop dipping into NBU balances under new IMF rules
KIEV, Sept. 3 – Following rules set by the International Monetary Fund's first Stand-By arrangement review, Ukraine will stop using advance payments by the National Bank of Ukraine to the national budget and will save only banks assets or deposits of which amount to 2% of total assets and deposits of the banking system via recapitalization using state funds. |
Ukraine to cut power supplies to occupied Crimea on Wednesday
KIEV, Sept. 3 - Ukraine said it will cut power supplies to Crimea, its Black Sea peninsula occupied and annexed by Russia in March, amid looming power shortages in the mainland.
The energy and coal industry ministry issued an order to UkrInterEnergo, state-owned power supply company, to introduce power supply restrictions to the peninsula on Wednesday. |
