Ukraine and Poland sign defense cooperation deal on Poroshenko trip

KIEV , Dec. 2 - Ukraine and Poland have signed an agreement on defense cooperation.

The document was signed by Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak and Polish Defense Minister Antoni Macierewicz during the official visit of the Ukrainian head of state to Poland , Interfax-Ukraine reported.


MP: Ukraine will arrest ships making illegal voyages to Crimea

KIEV , Dec. 5 – Ukraine will consistently protect its interest regarding ship voyages to occupied Crimea and intends to achieve the arrest of a dozen ships which violated Ukrainian maritime law, a member of the parliamentary committee for national security and defense, Petro Poroshenko Bloc faction MP Iryna Friz said.


NBU proposes to target inflation in 2017 monetary and credit policy

KIEV , Dec. 5 – The National Bank of Ukraine has published proposals to the NBU Council. They concern designing of the monetary and credit policy for 2017 and medium-term outlook. The Council intends to approve them on December 21.

China interested in Ukraine European integration, Kiev envoy says

XIAN, Dec. 3 – China is interested in the success of Ukraine's European integration course, Ukraine's Ambassador to China Oleh Diomin said.

"China is, of course, interested in Ukraine's integration with Europe. They see Ukraine as the gates to Europe, frankly speaking," he told Ukrainian journalists at a press briefing in Xian (China), while commenting on Beijing's reaction to the pause in the preparations for the signing of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU.


Large-scale protests have increased political risk, Moody's says

KIEV, Dec. 4 - Political risks have increased sharply in the context of the large-scale protests in the Ukrainian capital Kiev that followed the Ukrainian government's decision not to sign an Association Agreement with the European Union at the end of last week, the Moody's rating agency said.


S&P analyst warns of ratings cut if Ukraine violence escalates

LONDON, Dec. 5 – Standard & Poor’s may cut Ukraine's 'B-' credit rating "if there were to be a further increase in tension or an escalation in violence," S&P analyst Trevor Cullinan told the Bloomberg agency.

"There's still a short period when Ukraine can potentially raise funds, but the longer they leave it, the more likely that we will have to lower the ratings," Cullinan said.

Pro-EU demonstrators to continue protest

KIEV, Dec. 5 - Ukrainian pro-Europe demonstrators vowed to stay on the streets and continue their blockade of government buildings, despite a police threat to crack down "harshly" to enforce a court order that they disperse, Reuters reported.
