KIEV, Sept. 7 – Russia’s Defense Ministry of Russia has filed a lawsuit in Kiev Economic Court against the Ukrainian government for non-payment of UAH 3.239.45 billion under the criminal case on the activities of the United Energy Systems of Ukraine Corporation. |
Russian UESU lawsuit a gift to party, says Batkivschyna official
KIEV, Sept. 10 – The Russian Defense Ministry's lawsuit to recover $405.5 million of the debt of the United Energy Systems of Ukraine (UESU) Corporation from the Cabinet of Ministers, which was led by former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko in 1995-1997, has been described by the Batkivschyna Party as a gift, the Kommersant Ukraine newspaper wrote on Monday. |
Batkivschyna leader, in Italy, say’s he’ll sue over Basis liquidation

Government and IMF to lower 2010 fiscal deficit target to 4% of GDP
KIEV, Sept. 10 – The Ukrainian authorities and the International Monetary Fund's mission intend to improve a fiscal deficit target for 2010 from 6.5% to 4% of GDP, or UAH 42.1 billion, at the expense of cutting subsidies on the increased gas price for households and heat and power supply companies, holding tax and pension reforms. |
President orders defense capability check
KIEV, Sept. 10 – President Viktor Yushchenko ordered the inspection of Ukraine’s defense capabilities minutes after Russia had approved legislation allowing the use of force overseas for protection of its military bases and holders of Russian passports. |
