KIEV, Sept. 10 – Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko on Wednesday ruled out a major increase in defense spending as had been requested by Ukraine’s Defense Ministry following Russia’s incursion into Georgia last month.
The move underscores a major difference between Tymoshenko and President Viktor Yushchenko, who has been seeking to increase spending on the army in reaction to Russia’s assertive foreign policy.
