Yushchenko: Fired PM may have used office to wipe out $1.5 bln debt

KIEV, Sept. 13 - Former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko may have abused office by arranging to wipe out $1.5 billion debt that her now-defunct company owed the state, President Viktor Yushchenko told The Associated Press Tuesday.


Parliamentary factions back president

KIEV, Sept. 13 - Leaders of nine political groups in Parliament on Tuesday backed President Viktor Yushchenko in his calls for stability following the last week's turmoil that had led to the government's demise.

The groups, ranging from Yushchenko's Our Ukraine to former Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych's Regions Party, pledged to put differences aside and join forces.

Ukraine, Greece discuss expanding cooperation after putting out wildfires

KYIV, Aug 11 – Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis discussed the expansion of economic cooperation between the countries.

"Kyriakos Mitsotakis thanked the government and the President of Ukraine for sending 100 Ukrainian firefighters to help Greek colleagues. The head of the Greek government stressed that, given the significant experience of Ukrainian firefighters, he will initiate cooperation at the level of the rescue services of the two countries," the government reported after a telephone conversation between the prime ministers.


Ukraine reports record jump in COVID cases

KYIV, Aug 13 - Ukraine recorded a record daily jump of 1,592 coronavirus cases on Wednesday, Reuters reported Thursday citing the National Security and Defense Council.
