Growth of foreign direct equity investment reported down in Q1

KIEV, May 16 - Foreign direct investment in Ukraine in the form of equity capital grew $736.6 million in Q1, 13% less than the same period in 2012, according to the State Statistics Service.


Deliveries of crude oil to refineries down 25.9% through April 30

KIEV, May 14 - Deliveries of crude oil to Ukrainian oil refineries and Shebelynka gas processing plant dropped by 25.9% year-over-year, to 2.096 million tons in January-April, the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry reported.


Ukraine oil extraction reported down 5.2% YTD through end of April

KIEV, May 14 – Oil extraction in Ukraine fell by 5.2% or 41,800 tons year-on-year in January-April, to 766,600 tons, the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry reported.

Naftogaz Ukrayiny to boost Egypt hydrocarbon output in two years

KIEV, May 13 - Naftogaz Ukrayiny expects to boost its hydrocarbon production in Egypt to 10,000 barrels per day in the next two years.

"In the next one-and-a-half to two years we plan to [boost production at] all the fields that have been discovered and attain a production level of 10,000 barrels of oil per day," the head of ZakordonNaftogaz, Filipp Karpeko, said in an interview with the Ukrainian Delo newspaper.


EC discussions continue on nuclear power plant stress tests

BRUSSELS, May 13 – The European Commission is continuing to discuss the conditions for holding stress tests at nuclear power plants.

During a meeting between the European Commission and the European Nuclear Safety Regulators Group (ENSREG), which consists of 27 national agencies responsible for nuclear safety, the sides achieved some progress in the issue, although no final decision was made, Interfax-Ukraine learned from the European Commission on May 12.


EBRD to resume stalled Crimean water and sewage system project

SIMFEROPOL, May 13 - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and Crimean authorities will resume a stalled EBRD project for the completion of the modernization of Yalta's water supply and sewage system, which was suspended about four years ago.

ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih reduces steel output 10.2% through April 30

KIEV, May 16 - Ukraine’s biggest steelmaker, ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih (AMKR), reduced output of crude steel by 10.2% year-on-year to 1.83 million metric tons in January through April, down from 2.04 million mt produced a year ago, the company reported Monday.
