PM asks Canadians to participate in Ukraine oil and gas development

KIEV, April 17 – Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has called on Canadian companies to participate in the development and production of oil and gas in Ukraine.

"We are very seriously working on attracting foreign investment, in particular in the development and production of oil and gas. I know that Canada has quite reputable companies that specialize in these areas.


Official: Ukrainian cheese may return to Russia after flaws are fixed

Government reports 0.5% quarterly drop in exports of electricity

KIEV, April 17 – LUKOIL-Naftokhim, part of LUKOIL, has allocated $500 million to build membrane method sodium hydroxide and chlorine production plants at Karpatnaftokhim Ltd. in Kalush (Ivano-Frankivsk region) and a suspension polyvinylchloride resin production facility, according a posting on the official Karpatnaftokhim web site.


Think tank group upgrades Ukraine’s GDP forecast for this year

KIEV, April 17 – The International Center for Policy Studies (ICPS) announced it has improved its forecast for GDP growth in Ukraine in 2008 from 6.5% to 6.7%, but downgraded its inflation forecast from 10% to 19.5%.
