Federation of Employers demands end to NBU currency restrictions

KIEV, Feb. 18 – The Federation of Employers of Ukraine is demanding that the National Bank of Ukraine cancel the administrative extension of a term for buying foreign currency, as the step is leading to the worsening of negative trends in the economy, according to a posting on the federation's Web site.


Energy regulator to license 9.806 MW Solarenergo Kherson region plant

KIEV, Feb. 15 - The National Commission for Energy Regulation will issue a license for electricity generation to Solarenergo LLC, which built a solar power plant of 9.806 MW in Skadovsk district in Kherson region.

Interpipe to meet with $200 million debtors in bid to avoid default

KIEV, Feb. 16 - Interpipe Limited, the owner of Ukrainian pipe maker Interpipe from Dnipropetrovsk, plans to call a meeting of the holders of $200 million in notes maturing on August 2, 2010 in a bid to win more time before the bonds go into default, the company said in a statement published by the Luxembourg Stock Exchange on Tuesday.

Ukraine exports of non-processed aluminum down by 45.5% in 2009

KIEV, Feb. 17 – Ukraine reduced exports of non-processed (premium) aluminum by 45.5% in terms of volume, to 66,315 tons, and by 66.8% in money terms, to $106.305 million, in 2009, year-over-year, according to the State Statistics Committee.


Value of possible Nemiroff distillery sale put at up to $370 million

KIEV, Feb. 18 – The value of Nemiroff, a large Ukrainian alcohol producer, if it is bought by Central European Distribution Corporation (CEDC), which last week announced its readiness to hold talks on the deal, could be up to $370 million, experts polled by Interfax-Ukraine have said.
