Damen Shipyards and SMG studying joint projects for Ukrainian navy

KIEV, Sept. 18 – Dutch Damen Shipyards and Smart Maritime Group (SMG), which is part of Smart-holding, are studying the joint organization of the production of military and patrol vessels for the Ukrainian Navy at facilities in Ukraine, Head of the SMG supervisory board, Pavlo Konstantinov, has told Interfax-Ukraine, commenting on the agreement to create a Ukrainian-Dutch working group on stirring up cooperation in shipbuilding between Ukraine and Damen Shipyards during the Ukrainian premier's visit to The Hague.


Ukraine industrial production reported down 5.4% y-o-y in August

KIEV, Sept. 18 - Industrial production in Ukraine shrank by 5.4% in August compared to August 2012, which was worse than in July 2013, when the decline in industrial production was 4.9%, but better than in May and June 2013, when the decline was 5.7% and 9.3%, respectively, the State Statistics Service reported.


Decision looms on use of Westinghouse fuel at Yuzhnoukrainsk

KIEV, Sept. 18 – A decision on the further exploitation of Westinghouse fuel at reactor three of Yuzhnoukrainsk nuclear power plant will be made after the fuel is checked at the fuel assembly inspection and repair stand, said Mykhailo Hashev, the senior inspector of Ukraine's State Inspectorate for Nuclear Regulation.

Trade ministry proposes electronic scrap ferrous metal auctions

KIEV, Sept. 18 – The Economic Development and Trade Ministry has proposed the sale scrap ferrous metal export quotas, set in line with the balance of demand and consumption on the domestic market, at electronic auctions.

The relevant changes could be made to the law on scrap metal, the ministry said in comments on a draft law posted on its Web site.


2012 budget features UAH24 billion deficit, assumes 5% real GDP rise

Metinvest to supply 150,000 tons of pipe for East-West pipeline

KIEV, Sept. 16 - Ukraine's Metinvest holding announced it has won a tender called by Turkmenistan's national gas producer Turkmengaz and will supply 150,000 tons of pipe to be produced by Khartsyzsk Tube Works for the East-West gas pipeline project.
