Vanco Prykerchenska estimates PSA revocation cost at $100 million

KIEV, Dec. 17 – Vanco Prykerchenska Ltd. (the British Virgin Islands) estimates its losses from Ukraine unilaterally revoking a production sharing agreement on the Prykerchensky oil and gas deposit offshore in Black Sea at over $100 million.


World Bank sees key problems with adoption of new Ukrainian tax code

KIEV, Dec. 17 – The Tax Code adopted by Parliament has some key problems, according to the World Bank.

"Some essential problems of the tax and administration policy remain… [and] the new tax privileges reduce the tax base for taxes on companies' profit and VAT," reads a World Bank statement.


Bogdan reports 30.4% auto production increase for first 11 months

KIEV, Dec. 17 - The Bogdan car corporation, one of the largest Ukrainian car producers, in January through November increased output of passenger cars produced at its plants in Lutsk, Cherkasy and Illichievsk by 30.4% year-on-year, to 48,679 cars, Bogdan spokesman Serhiy Krasulia told Interfax-Ukraine.


Foreign capital share of banking sector falls to 31.5% last month

KIEV, Dec. 19 - The share of foreign capital in the Ukrainian banking sector fell from 33% in October to 31.5% in November, according the National Bank of Ukraine.

LONDON, Dec. 19 - Ihor Kolomoisky, a co-owner of the Ukrainian-based PrivatBank, has become a shareholder of Evraz Group, reducing Lanebrook Limited's share in the group to 73%, from 83%.


Sintez-gaz Ukrainy to invest UAH120 million in energy projects

KIEV, Dec. 19 -Sintez-gaz Ukrainy state concern in 2008 plans to invest at least UAH120 million to launch energy-saving technologies, announced Yevhen Sukhin, the head of the National Agency of Ukraine for Efficient Use of Energy.


Gaz Ukrayiny to restrict natgas supplies to customers in arrears

KIEV, Dec. 19 - Gaz Ukrayiny, starting Dec. 20, announced it will significantly restrict natural gas supplies to debtor heat supply companies that have paid for less than 80% of the gas they have consumed as of that date.

Gaz Ukrayiny said that the level of payments of 25 heat supply companies as of Dec. 17 is from 1% to 68%, and their total debt to the company is around UAH137 million.


EBRD, IFC to loan $200 million to Ukraine’s No. 4 gasoline retailer

KIEV, Dec. 19 - The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the International Finance Corporation will jointly lend $200 million to Ukraine’s No. 4 gasoline retailer, Galnaftogaz, to boost its gas filling station chain, the EBRD reported Wednesday.


ChornomorNaftoGaz reports major Black Sea oil discovery near Kerch

KIEV, Dec. 19 – ChornomorNaftoGaz, Ukraine’s third-largest oil and gas company, reported Wednesday that recent test drilling had proved that its Subbotin offshore oil field contains at least 100 million metric tons of crude oil.
