State arms concern lauds Rada ratification of Canada free-trade deal

KIEV, March 20 – Ukroboronprom State Concern said it welcomes the ratification of the Free Trade Agreement between Canada and Ukraine by Ukrainian parliament and expects that the implementation of the agreement would bring cooperation between the two countries to the new level.

KIEV, March 17 - Ukrnafta Chairman Mark Rollins will ask the supervisory council of the company to start pre-trial reorganization for debt repayment.

NBU places Petrocommerce-Ukraine on list of insolvent banks

KIEV, March 18 – The National Bank of Ukraine has placed bank Petrocommerce-Ukraine on its list of insolvent banks.

The decision is outlined in NBU resolution No. 169 of March 17.

The bank earlier was put to the list of troubled banks due to having the non-transparent ownership structure. In March 2015, a shareholder in the bank – Russia's Petrocommerce – sold the Ukrainian bank's shares to 11 individuals.


Tajikstan moves to invalidate Akhmetov purchase of Tajikazot stake

DUSHANBE, March 18 - The Agency for State Financial Control and Fight against Corruption under the president of Tajikistan has appealed to the economic court of the country with a lawsuit to invalidate the deal on the purchase by the company belonging to Ukrainian businessman Dmytro Firtash of a 75% stake is CJSC Tajikazot.


Government prepares amendments to cut 'corrupt' solar subsidies

KIEV, March 19 – The government has drawn up amendments to Ukrainian laws foreseeing a reduction in the subsidizing of solar energy, Energy and Coal Industry Minister Yuriy Prodan said in an interview with Publichnye Liudi magazine.


Ukraine became 4th-largest arms exporter last year, SIPRI reports

KIEV, March 18 – Ukraine exported major conventional arms worth $1.344 billion in 2012, becoming the fourth largest arms exporter in the world, according to the data published by Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).


Government sets coking coal import quotas to protect producers

KIEV, March 19 – The Cabinet of Ministers has set quotas on imports of coking coal to protect the interests of national producers, Energy and Coal Industry Minister Eduard Stavytsky has said.
