KIEV, April 20 – The losses of Antonov Airlines due to the closure of air space in almost 20 countries in Europe due to volcano eruption in Iceland last week amount to several million dollars, Antonov Airlines CEO Kostiantyn Lushakov told Interfax-Ukraine.

Ukraine mulling joint construction of Black Sea grain terminal

Analysts predict large drop in Ukraine grain harvest this year

KIEV, April 20 – Ukraine is capable of harvesting about 40 million tons of grain this year against 53.3 million in 2008, agriculture analysts say.

"We believe that the yield of grain this year will be about 40 million tons," said Yelyzaveta Malyshko, an analyst from UkrAgroConsult.


Ukrainian electricity exports down 48.6% in Q1, government reports

KIEV, April 21 – Ukraine cut electricity exports by 48.2% or 836.5 million in kWh year-on-year in Q1, to 897.3 million kWh, the Fuel and Energy Ministry told Interfax-Ukraine.

The key reason for halving of exports is the stoppage of electricity supplies to Moldova, which share in the total electricity exports in Q1 2008 was over 39%.


Developing company plans to invest $100 million in Yalta complex

KIEV, April 18 – Kiev-based Steltex Investments developing company is to invest $100 million in the construction of a hotel complex with apartments in Yalta (Crimea), its board chairman, Oleh Salmin, said at a press conference in Kiev on Thursday.

KIEV, April 21 - The level of dollarization of the Ukrainian economy as of late March was 24.05%, 1.3% more than in early 2008, the Economy Ministry reported.
