DTEK expects arbitration court ruling on Russia’s annexation of Crimea

NIKOPOL, April 19 – DTEK has said it expects the decision of the permanent arbitration court in The Hague on the claim to the Russian Federation about assets lost in Russia-annexed Crimea in the first quarter of 2020, DTEK CEO Maksym Tymchenko told journalists in Nikopol on Friday.


Russia expands list of Ukraine’s cardboard, paper products imports ban

KYIV, April 19 – Russia's expanding the list of cardboard and paper products, the import of which is prohibited from Ukraine, will not significantly affect the work of the industry, however the ban will become a problem for the export of cardboard boxes, bags and package, the executive director of the UkrPapir association, Eduard Lytvak, has said.

DTEK predicts ‘difficulties’ with Russian coal imports

NIKOPOL, April 22 – DTEK predicts that there would be difficulties with imports of coal from the Russian Federation to Ukraine along with the coal export restrictions approved by the Russian government on April 18, 2019, but the group does not foresee any serious problems, DTEK CEO Maksym Tymchenko told reporters in Nikopol last week.

At the same time, he said that the company made every effort to convert the units of its thermal power plants (TPPs) from anthracite to gas coal.


Ukrainian textile industry scrambles to respond to Russia’s sanctions

KYIV, April 22 – The introduction of new restrictions on import of products of Ukrainian textile industry would affect the volumes of export of these goods, operation of enterprises and occupancy of employees, as despite the fact that last year export of products of light industry fell by 26% compared with 2017, it totaled $73.6 million (6% of total Ukrainian export of products of light industry), the Ukrainian Association of enterprises of textile & leather industry (Ukrlegprom) has said.

Ukraine gradually boosting gas imports in April, Eustream reports

KYIV, April 19 – Ukraine in April is gradually boosting imports of natural gas. In particular, on April 19, the application for supply of gas via Slovakia was increased 1.6-fold, according to information from the Eustream gas transport operator.


Ukraine imports 1.14-bln cu m of gas in January-February

KYIV, April 19 – Ukraine in January-February imported 1.145 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas for a total of $313.366 million, according to the State Statistics Service.

Thus, the average price of gas imported by the country in February 2018 was $261.1 per 1,000 cubic meters against $279.4 in January 2018.


French firm Alstom seeks platform to open production in Ukraine

KYIV, April 19 – The French company Alstom has arrived in Ukraine and is looking for a platform for opening joint or new production facilities for investments, First Deputy Prime Minister Stepan Kubiv said.
