Kharkiv court mulling Batkivschyna call for Shell PSA nullification

KHARKIV, July 23 – Kharkiv's district administrative court has held its first hearing on a claim filed by Kharkiv Regional Council deputy Ivan Varchenko (the Batkivschyna faction), who demands that the council's approval of a draft production sharing agreement between Ukraine and Shell, Nadra Yuzivska on the Yuzivska shale gas field be ruled null and void, and cancelled.


Ukrainian businesses set to export poultry to European Union

KIEV, July 23 - Ukrainian businesses that from July 24 will get the right to supply poultry to the European Union will be allowed to supply by the end of the year at least 50,000 tons of this product to the markets, Agricultural Policy and Food Minister Mykola Prysiazhniuk said.


Income and tax ministry proposes lower VAT and a tax on sales

KIEV, July 23 – The Income and Tax Ministry has called for value-added tax to be reduced from 17% to 9% as of January 1, 2014, and tax on sales at a rate of 1% and 2% be simultaneously introduced as compensation.


State Property Fund to auction off Donbasenergo stake next month

KIEV, July 24 – An auction to sell a 60.773% stake in power generating company PJSC Donbasenergo will be held on August 21 in the premises of State Property Fund.

According to an official announcement in the Vidomosti Pryvatyzatsii newspaper, the starting price of the stake is UAH 641 million.


2nd-largest Ukraine oil refinery expected to resume operation in March

KIEV, July 24 - Ukraine’s second largest oil refinery will probably be restarted in March 2014, or five months later than had been earlier planned, Energy and Coal Industry Minister Eduard Stavytskiy said Wednesday.


Cost of May Russian natural gas imports averaged $427.37/1,000 cm

KIEV, July 23 – Naftogaz Ukrayiny and Cyprus-based OstChem Holding imported Russian natural gas at an average $427.37 per 1,000 cubic meters in May, the State Statistics Service reported.


Kazan Aviation Production Association to make An-70 aircraft

ZAPORIZHIA, July 23 – The Antonov An-70 military transport aircraft ordered by the Russian Defense Ministry will most likely be manufactured at the Kazan Aviation Production Association, Motor Sich engine manufacturer Director Viacheslav Bohuslayev said.


Sumy’s Aviakon, France’s Sagem to modernize Mi-24 helecopter

KIEV, July 24 - Konotop-based state enterprise Aviakon aircraft repair plant (Sumy region) said it plans in the near future jointly with French-based Sagem to start the modernization of the Mi-24 helicopter of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.


Gasoline and diesel excise duty falls for 3rd consecutive period

KIEV, July 24 – The Energy and Coal Industry Ministry has adjusted excise duty on gasoline and diesel fuel downward for the third 10-day period of July, with the rate for gasoline reduced by EUR 26.48 per ton, to EUR 206.56 per ton.


Business group knocks new law banning medicinal advertising

KIEV, July 21 – A complete ban on any kinds of medicinal advertising would limit Ukrainians' access to over-the-counter drugs by restricting information about their existence on the market, reads a press release of the European Business Association (EBA).
