Domestic metals consumption declines 60% in first half of 2009
KIEV, July 27 – Metals consumption in Ukraine on the distribution and retail markets in fell by 60% in H1, Dmytro Nikolaenko, director general of Metinvest-SMC Ltd.
"In H1 the domestic metal market was characterized by a common decline in consumption, the increased role of distribution companies, a rise in the share of retail shipments from metal centers in total sales and a growth in the share of large metal traders," said Nikolaenko.

Ukrainian wages register 8.6% decrease in June, government reports
KIEV, July 27 - Actual year-on-year wages in Ukraine fell in June 2009 by 8.6%, while in June 2008 it grew by 5.4% year-over-year, the State Statistics Committee reported.
According to the committee, the average nominal wage in June 2009 was UAH 2,115, which is a 0.2% rise against May 2009 and 5.2% compared to June 2008. |
SPF signs memorandum with RusAl to support Zaporizhia Aluminum

Fitch assigns BB- rating to $2 billion MTN Finance LPN program
KIEV, July 24 - Fitch Ratings has assigned Ukrainian MTN Finance Plc's $2 billion LPN program a final Long-term 'BB-' (BB minus) rating for notes with maturities in excess of one year, and a final Short-term 'B' rating for notes with maturities of less than one year. |
Inflation, trade deficit are main risk factors, says banker
KIEV, July 24 – The inflation rate and the growth of the foreign trade deficit remain the main risk factors for Ukraine's economy, though on the whole the macroeconomic situation in Ukraine is good, Association of Ukrainian Banks President Oleksandr Suhoniako said.
