Ukraine’s Q2 payments balance shows surplus, according to NBU
KIEV, Aug. 1 - Ukraine's balance of payments for the second quarter of this year closed with a surplus of $679 million, which was 39% down on the $1.109 billion posted in the first quarter and 87% down on the $5.1 billion seen in April-June 2010, the National Bank of Ukraine reported.

EnergoAtom signs loan agreements worth $130 million with Ukreximbank
KIEV, Aug. 1 – EnergoAtom has signed loan agreements worth $130 million with the State Export-Import Bank of Ukraine (Ukreximbank).
Two loans - worth $50 million and $80 million - will be borrowed for 12 months from the day the loan agreements were signed, according to a posting on the Web site of the Economy and Trade Ministry. |
France’s King & Spalding law firm to continue on Tatneft litigation
KIEV, Aug. 2 – France's King & Spalding law firm will continue protecting Ukraine's interests in 2011 in the litigation on a claim by Russia's Tatneft.
According to a posting on the Web site of the Ukrainian Economic Development and Trade Ministry on the results of a tender with one bidder conducted by the Justice Ministry, the agreement worth $1.6 million (VAT not included) was signed by the sides on July 26, 2011. |
Law unifies monopoly, securities, communications, energy regulators
KIEV, Aug. 3 – National commissions that regulate natural monopolies on the securities, financial services, communications, energy and utilities markets are a state collegiate authority headed by a commission chairman and consisting of six members and central staff, according to a new law. |
Interpipe tries to get more time from holders to pay past-due notes
KIEV, Aug. 2 – Ukrainian pipe and wheel producer Interpipe has offered the holders of its notes that fell due on August 2, 2010, to extend the maturity of the notes by seven years and increase the interest rate payable on the notes to 10.25% from 8.75%.
Interpipe in July 2007 handled a debut issue of notes worth $200 million at 8.75% per annum and falling due on August 2, 2010. |
NERC increases industrial natural gas ceiling price by 9.8%
KIEV, Aug. 3 – The National Electricity Regulatory Commission has increased the ceiling price on natural gas for industrial consumers and budget-funded organizations by 9.8%, to UAH 2,187 per 1,000 cubic meters (VAT, extra charges, transportation and supply tariffs not included).
