Gross NBU international reserves expand 6.98% in July to $37.9b

KIEV, Aug. 5 – The National Bank of Ukraine's gross international reserves in July expanded by 6.98%, or by $2.475 billion, to $37.914 billion, whereas in June they grew by 3%, or $1.026 billion, the central bank reported on its official Web site.


Ukraine consumer prices down 0.5% in July

KIEV, Aug. 6 – Ukraine’s consumer prices dropped 0.5% on the month in July, reacting to a bumper grain harvest this season as cash-strapped farmers had rushed to sell the commodity, depressing the prices.


Arcelor Mittal agrees to sell Sparrow Point steel plant to JV

NEW YORK, August 6 – Arcelor Mittal USA agreed on sale of its Sparrow Point steel plant to a joint venture, which includes Esmark Incorporated, Wheeling Pittsburgh Corporation, along with Cia. Vale do Rio Doce (Brazil) and Industrial Union of Donbas (Ukraine), Bloomerg reported.

KIEV, Aug. 3 – The national Naftogaz Ukrayiny may create a new daughter company to service and develop its own chain of filling stations, which would sell fuel and compressed gas, Andriy Pliatsko, director of Ukravtogaz, which exploits the NGV-re-fuelling compressor stations of Ukrtransgaz – the daughter company of Naftogaz Ukrayiny.
