Household electricity tariffs spike 5.1%-25.2% as of Sept. 1

KIEV, Sept. 3 – The electricity tariffs for households from September 1, 2015 grew by 5.1-25.2% compared to the tariffs that had been in effect since April 1, 2015.


NBU to reach decision soon on reduction of maximum cash payments

KIEV, Sept. 4 – Public discussion on the draft decision of the National Bank of Ukraine on reducing the maximum amount of cash payments from UAH 150,000 to UAH 50,000 ended on August 25 and the NBU will soon make a decision on the matter, NBU Deputy head Yakiv Smoliy said.


Ukraine foreign exchange reserves up 21.6%, central bank reports

KIEV, Sept. 4 – Ukraine's forex reserves have grown by $2.24 billion or 21.6%, to $12.62 billion, the National Bank of Ukraine announced.

The NBU said that the level of reserves returned to the level of October 2014.


NBU extends 'anti-crisis' currency measures through December

KIEV, Sept. 4 - The anti-crisis measures which the National Bank of Ukraine introduced in 2014-2015 have been extended for another three months until December 4, 2015, according to NBU resolution No. 581 on the settlement of the situation in the monetary and currency market of Ukraine, dated September 3.


Government allocates Ukrenergo land for nuclear power plant lines

KIEV, Sept. 4 - The Cabinet of Ministers has decided to allocate 41.6 hectares of land to Ukrenergo for the construction of the 750 kV Rivne nuclear power plant-Kievska overhead power line, and the 750 kV Khmelnytsky-Chernobyl power line to the Kievska substation.


Parliament votes to build two new nuclear reactors at Khmelnytskiy

KIEV, Sept. 6 - Parliament on Thursday voted to approve a plan to build two new nuclear power reactors at Khmelnytskiy Nuclear Power Plant.

The plan, which was in July approved by the government, calls for construction of two Russian designed VVER-1,000/V-392 units with capacity of 1,000 megawatts each.


Security chief: Ukraine may become net natgas exporter to EU

KIEV, Sept. 6 - Ukraine may eventually become a net exporter of natural gas to the European Union, a top national security official said Thursday as he called for greater cooperation between the two in the energy sector.


Naftogaz CEO complains of excessive Russian natural gas price

KIEV, Sept. 5 - The price of Russian gas for Ukraine has shot up 2.5 times since the end of 2008, including by $120 per 1,000 cubic meters this year or by UAH 1,000 per each Ukrainian, which is an excessive burden for the population and the economy, Naftogaz Ukrayiny CEO Yevhen Bakulin said on Ukraine's Channel 5 television on Monday.


Volume of natural gas transiting to Europe up 13.2% through Aug. 31

KIEV, Sept. 6 - The volume of natural gas transiting Ukraine amounted to 71.979 billion cubic meters (bcm) in January-August, up 13.2%, or 8.415 bcm, from the same period of last year.


Naftogaz Ukrayiny pays $487 million for August Russian natgas imports

KIEV, Sept. 6 - Naftogaz Ukrayiny paid about $487 million to Russia’s gas giant Gazprom for natural gas imported in August, the company said in a statement Tuesday.
