EC official disputes reports of lost revenues due to free-trade deal

KIEV, Oct. 6 – Lviv-based OJSC Zakhidenergo plans to finish the reconstruction of power unit seven at the Burshtynska thermal power plant by September 2011.

The director of the department for promising developments and investment at National JSC Energy Company of Ukraine, Yuriy Trofimenko, announced the plan at a meeting of the Fuel and Energy Ministry at the Burshtynska heat power plant.


Ukrtransnafta chief says LUKOIL is trying to block Odessa refinery

Ukraine showed worst industrial decline in CIS through September

MOSCOW, Oct. 5 - Ukraine had the worst industrial decline among CIS countries in the first eight months of 2009.

The CIS Interstate Statistical Committee said industrial output plummeted 29.6% year-on-year in Ukraine, 24.6% in Moldova, 14% in Russia, 12.7% in Kyrgyzstan, 11.9% in Armenia, 11.4% in Tajikistan, 4.6% in Belarus and 1.5% in Kazakhstan in January-August.


Telenor and Alfa Group merger expected to have limited local impact

KIEV, Oct. 6 – The merger of the telecommunications assets of Norway's Telenor and Russia's Alfa Group – CJSC Kyivstar GSM and OJSC VimpelCom - will have only a slight impact on the Ukrainian telecommunications market in the short term, according to market players polled by Interfax-Ukraine.
