Pensions threatened by banking chaos, investor group director says

KIEV, April 7 – Almost 40% of the assets of Non-Government Pension Funds (NGPFs) and 20% of the assets of public collective investment institutions (CIIs) are in the risk zone due to the unstable situation in the Ukrainian banking system, said Andriy Rybalchenko, director general of the Ukrainian Association of Investment Business (UAIB).


Consumer inflation scores pickup in March, government reports

KIEV, April 7 - Inflation in Ukraine accelerated to 10.8% in March 2015, compared to 5.3% in February, 3.1% - in January, 3% - in December and 1.9% - in November last year, the State Statistics Service reported.


Industrial prices reported up 2.7% in March after falling 0.2%

KIEV, April 7 - Prices in industry, after decreasing by 0.2% in February 2014, grew by 2.7% in March, the State Statistics Service has said.

According to its data, in annual terms industrial prices in the country rose by 3.9% from 3.3% in February, but compared to the beginning of the year they rose by 3%.


NBU cancels restrictions on holding reserves in foreign currency

KIEV, April 7 – The National Bank of Ukraine has decided to cancel its resolution No. 109, permitting banks to gradually include reserves in foreign currency in their general open currency position, reads a posting on the NBU's Web site.


Energy regulator increases Botiyevska wind farm registered capacity

KIEV, April 4 – The National Commission for Energy Regulation has increased the registered capacity of the power generating equipment of Botiyevska wind farm (Zaporizhia region) by 27.675 MW, to 92.25 MW.


Energy minister calls for postponement of Centrenergo privatization

DONETSK, April 4 – It is better to carry out the privatization of Centrenergo, a power generating company, after the plan on the restoration of its largest thermal power plant – Vuhlehirska thermal power plant (TTP), which was stopped at the end of March 2013 after fire – is drawn up, Energy and Coal Industry Minister Eduard Stavytsky said.


Ukroliayprom: Bio-safety issue hurting sunflower oil exports to China

KIEV, April 4 – Ukraine wants to export sunflower oil to China, although the requirement of the country to present a bio-safety certificate for it hinders supplies to the Chinese market, Ukroliyaprom association Director General Stepan Kapshuk said.

Russian pipe group denies report of Customs Union and Ukraine talks

MOSCOW, April 5 - The Russian Pipe Industry Development Fund denies a report that the Customs Union of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus are not holding talks with Ukraine on the revision of the current agreement which regulates supplies of some types of Ukrainian steel pipes, the acting director of FRTP, Alexander Chumakov, told Interfax.


Foreign ministry denies report of mass diplomatic corps layoffs

KIEV, April 7 - The Foreign Ministry has denied a report that personnel will soon be recalled en masse from Ukrainian diplomatic missions abroad due to budget cuts.
