Government to intervene in dispute between Lukoil and UkrTransNafta

KIEV, Oct. 7 – The government will get involved in a dispute between Russian oil major Lukoil and UkrTransNafta, a state oil shipper, seeking to restart an oil refinery in Odessa, an official said Wednesday.

Lukoil stopped the refinery last week following the dispute with UkrTransNafta after the oil shipper had acted on a plan to start massive imports of Caspian Sea crude to one of Lukoil’s competitors.


Moody’s assigns Aa1.ua national scale rating to Metinvest B.V.

KIEV, Oct. 6 -- Moody's Investors Service has assigned a Aa1.ua national scale rating to Metinvest B.V., a steel and mining company, which has been derived from the recently assigned Ba3 corporate family rating.


Natural gas transit via Ukraine to Europe up 16.3% through September

KIEV, Oct. 6 - The transit of natural gas via Ukraine to Europe increased by 16.3%, to 90.6 billion cubic meters in January-September 2008 compared to the same period of 2007, Ukrtransgaz, the operator of the Ukrainian gas transportation system and a subsidiary of Naftogaz Ukrayiny, said on Monday.

Appeal by Russia’s Tatneft against Ukraine to hit arbitration court

KIEV, Oct. 7 – The first arbitration hearing on an appeal by Russia's OAO Tatneft against Ukraine under a convention on the protection of investments will be held in London on Oct. 20, according to First Deputy Justice Minister Yevhen Korniychuk.


Ukrainians bought $480 million more currency than sold last month

KIEV, Oct. 4 – The Ukrainian population purchased $480.6 million more currency than it sold in September, while in August it purchased by $73.3 million more, in July it sold $5.6 million more than it purchased, in June it purchased $193.2 million more foreign currency than it sold, while in May the public purchased $162.3 million more, and in April - $381.4 million more, the National Bank of Ukraine said in a posting on its official Web site on Wednesday.


Nuclear plant output up 4.2% during first nine months of 2007

KIEV, Oct. 4 - Ukraine's nuclear power plants boosted electricity generation by 4.2% in January through September 2007 year-on-year, to 70.027 billion kWh,f the national nuclear electricity generating company EnergoAtom reported.
