Grain exports from Ukraine reported down sharply this marketing year

KIEV, June 7 - Grain exports from Ukraine over the 11 months of the current marketing year (MY, from July 2010) amounted to 10.5 million tons, which is almost 10 million tons less than in the same period of the previous marketing year, Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation (UAC) Director General Serhiy Stoyanov told reporters.


NBU reduces discount rate to 9.5%, citing improved macroeconomics

KIEV, June 8 - The National Bank of Ukraine reduced the discount rate on Tuesday from 10.25% to 9.5%, the NBU said in a statement.

The NBU had held the discount rate at 10.25% since August 12, 2009.

Industrial producer prices spike 4.4% in May after 3% April rise

KIEV, June 8 – Industrial producers' prices in Ukraine grew by 4.4% in May, up from the 3% readings seen in March and April and 1.9% in February and January, the State Statistics Committee reported.


NBU will support economy by printing money, says cenbank official

KIEV, June 8 – The National Bank of Ukraine will support the Ukrainian economy by printing money, although the central bank believes that this step is undesirable, according to Oleksandr Arseniuk, the deputy director of the monetary policy department at the NBU.
