NBU capitalization requirement too high, says PrivatBank chairman
KIEV, Oct. 7 – The largest bank in Ukraine – PrivatBank (Dnipropetrovsk) – has said that the recommendations of the National Bank of Ukraine on the additional capitalization of UAH 8 billion after a stress test is set too high, according to PrivatBank Chairman Oleksandr Dubilet. |
Karpatnaftokhim to resume polyvinylchloride production on Nov. 1

ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih to open three new steel warehouses this year
KIEV, Oct. 7 - ArcelorMittal Kryviy Rih (Dnipropetrovsk region) is planning by the end of the year to open three more warehouses for steel goods in addition to its existing two storage facilities, with the possibility of expanding the range of goods through supplies from other enterprises of the company.

Steel consumption projected to fall 7.9% this year, trade group says
SAO PAULO, Oct. 8 – Apparent steel consumption in Ukraine in 2013 will fall by 7.9% compared with 2012, to 5.8 million tons, Hans Jurgen Kerkhoff, Chairman of the World Steel Association's Economics Committee told Interfax-Ukraine at a press conference as a part of the 47th annual conference held in Sao Paulo on October 7-9. |
State registers secure after data breach, Justice Ministry reports
KIEV, Oct. 8 - As of 2 p.m. on October 7, all technical conditions for the functioning of all state registers were secure, the Justice Ministry reported.
The ministry that the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) confirmed the integrity of state registers after checks. |
Slight price uptick follows 4 months of deflation, government reports
KIEV, Oct. 5 – Four months of deflation at 0.2-0.3% have been replaced by inflation of 0.1% in September, the State Statistics Service reported on Friday.
According to the service, consumer prices in Ukraine have dropped by 0.3% since the beginning of the year, whereas compared with September 2011, they have remained at the same level, i.e. in annual terms, as in the previous month, inflation remains zero. |
