Moldova and DTEK Power Trade sign electricity supply contract

CHISINAU, April 9 – A contract on the supply electricity between Moldova's Energokom and Ukraine's DTEK Power Trade was signed on April 6, 2012.


Export and domestic cheese meet same standards, says prime minister

KIEV, April 6 – Ukrainian cheese for export and domestic consumption is produced according to common standards, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov said.

"No special sorts of cheese are produced for the foreign and domestic markets, as we have common standards for products that are manufactured for consumption inside the country and outside it," Azarov wrote on his page in Facebook.


Inflation in Ukraine rose to 0.3% in March, government reports

KIEV, April 6 – Inflation in Ukraine accelerated to 0.3% in March, while over the three previous months it stood at 0.2%, the State Statistics Service reported.

According to the service, in annual terms inflation in March slowed to 1.9%, from 3% in February 2012, 3.7% in January 2012, and 4.2% in December 2011.


Austria’s Activ Solar increases capacity of power plants in Crimea

ODESSA, April 6 – Austria's Activ Solar has increased the capacity of solar power plants Okhotnykove (Saky district in Crimea) and Perove (Simferopol district in Crimea) by 8.2 megawatts thank to the installation of additional modules, Activ Solar CEO Johann Harter said at the CI Solar-2012 conference in Odessa.


New Shell company registered to develop lubricants in Ukraine

KIEV, April 6 – Shell international company has registered Shell Oil Products Ukraine (Kiev) in Ukraine to develop a lubricant business under its own brand.

The company is to start working in April.


Government extends mining/chem/metals sector measures through July 1

KIEV, April 8 – The Ukrainian government has prolonged until July 1 a set of measures it promulgated in October aimed at stabilizing the country’s mining, metals and chemical sector, Economy Minister Bohdan Danylyshyn announced.


Trade group: excise duty hike will lead to cut in alcohol production

KIEV, April 8 – The increase in the excise duty on ethyl spirit and fortified alcohol adopted by the parliament on March 31 will lead to a cut in legal alcohol production by 53-90% and the temporary stoppage of distilleries, according to representatives of large alcohol companies.


Agrarian group predicts farm halt due to financing problems

KIEV, April 9 – The Ukrainian Club for Agrarian Business forecasts that many small and medium agricultural companies will halt work if the current situation with agricultural sector financing continues.


Ukrainian electricity output declined 13.7% in Q1, government reports

KIEV, April 9 - Ukraine reduced electricity output 13.7% to 46.735 billion kilowatt hours in Q1 compared to the same period of 2008, the Fuel and Energy Ministry told Interfax.

Nuclear power plants reduced electricity output 13.6% to 22.202 billion kWh in the three months, while thermal power plants and combined heat and power plants reduced output 18.9% to 19.065 billion kWh.


No need to borrow: Finance ministry denies deficit difficulties

KIEV, April 9 – The Finance Ministry denies there is problem in the financing of the deficit of the national budget for 2009 and said it does not plan to enter the commercial foreign loan markets.
