Cabinet closes Zakarpattia salt pit to avoid environmental problems

KIEV, March 11 – The Cabinet of Ministers has decided to close state-run Solotvyne salt pit in Tiachiv district in Zakarpattia region.

The cabinet's secretariat reported last week that the government made the decision to avoid an environmental disaster.


Ukraine's GDP fell 2.5% in Q4 2012, according to government

KIEV, March 11 – Ukraine's GDP in the fourth quarter of 2012 fell by 2.5% compared to the fourth quarter of 2011, according to updated information from the State Statistics Service.

Earlier, the service said that the country's GDP in October-December 2012 dropped by 2.7%.
