Decolletage Industries to open Ivano-Frankivsk auto parts facility

KIEV, Sept. 11 – France's Decolletage Industries (Besancon) in September will open an automated car spare part production facility in the premises of open joint-stock company Kolomyiaselmash (Ivano-Frankivsk region), Deputy Head of Ivano-Frankivsk regional administration, Volodymyr Popovych said in an interview with the Uriadovy Kurier government's newspaper.

Canada’s 3P International Energy buys Tysagaz for $17 million

KIEV, Sept. 8 - Canada's 3P International Energy Corp. announced it has closed the acquisition of Ukraine's Tysagaz for $17 million, subject to working capital adjustments.

The deal was announced on May 24.


Ukrainian bank profits rise 60% for first eight months of 2008

KIEV, Sept. 9 - Ukrainian banks' net profit in January through August amounted to UAH6.8 billion, 60% over same period last year, while growth over seven months was 63% and growth over six months was 71%, the National Bank of Ukraine said.


‘Ukrainian banks remain highly vulnerable,’ according to S&P analyst

KIEV, Sept. 9 – Ukraine's banking system is facing high risks, according to Standard & Poor’s.

"Ukrainian banks remain highly vulnerable to potential shocks due to rapid, untested loan growth in recent years, amid macroeconomic and political uncertainty," said S&P credit analyst Ekaterina Trofimova.

Growth in passenger auto sales slows down to 1.3% in August

KIEV, Sept. 11 – Sales of new passenger cars in Ukraine in August grew only by 1.3% year-over-year, and fell by 11.4% compared to June 2008, when around 60,000 cars were sold, the Auto-Consulting information and analytical group reported.
