DTEK and Donetsk Iron and Steel Works to take part in Luhansk tenders

KIEV, Oct. 11 – DTEK and Donetskstal Iron and Steel Works are being allowed to take part in the next stage of a tender for the concession of the integrated property complexes of state enterprises Rovenkiantracit and Sverdlovantracit (both based in Luhansk region), a source in the Energy and Coal Ministry said.

Agriculture group criticizes cabinet grain export quota decision

KIEV, Oct. 11 – The cabinet decision to impose grain export quotas is groundless, said Leonid Kozachenko, president of the Ukrainian Agrarian Confederation.

"I think that [the introduction of grain export] quotas is a wrong decision. We have excess of grain, which should be exported, so export should be supported, and everything should be done so that farmers received the maximum price of its products," he said.

KIEV, Oct. 9 - The State Road Service (Ukravtodor) plans to borrow $600 million from the World Bank to renovate the Lubny-Poltava highway.

"Taking into consideration the positive experience of cooperation with international financial organizations and the limited budgets in the near-term outlook, the government has decided to prolong cooperation with the IFOs, namely the World Bank," Ukravtodor said in a statement.


Indian national working for Arcelor Mittal hit by gunfire in co car

KIEV, Oct. 10 – An Indian national employed by Arcelor Mittal at its Ukrainian steelmaker was injured late Friday after a company car was sprayed with fire from a hunting rifle, a local police reported Saturday.
