Ukraine’s current account deficit halved in September, NBU reports
KIEV, Oct. 27 – The deficit of the current account of Ukraine's balance of payments in September 2010 more than halved compared to August: from $565 million to $259 million, according to Valeriy Lytvytsky, the head of the group of advisors to the National Bank of Ukraine governor. |

Construction of new passenger terminal starts at Boryspil Airport
KIEV, Oct. 27 – The construction of a new D passenger terminal has started at Boryspil International Airport.
An Interfax-Ukraine correspondent reported that Transport and Communications Minister Yosyp Vinsky, the Japanese ambassador to Ukraine, Tadashi Izawa, the Turkish ambassador to Ukraine, Erdogan Iscan, representatives of local authorities, the president of Turkey's Dogus/Alarko/YDA Company, which will build the terminal, Burak Talu, and the director general of state enterprise Boryspil International Airport, Borys Shakhsuvarov, took part in the Friday ceremony devoted to the start of the terminal's construction. |
ZAZ may cut auto output 40% in near future due to lack of demand
KIEV, Oct. 27 – Zaporizhia Car Building Plant (ZAZ) in the near future may cut production by 40% due to the financial crisis, although measures taken by UkrAvto Corporation, which incorporates ZAZ, are ensuring a stable financial state at the company, MP Tarieal Vasadze, honorary president of UkrAvto, told Interfax-Ukraine. |
Banker calls on MPs to pass bill dealing with financial crisis
KIEV, Oct. 28 –The adoption of an anti-crisis law is needed to receive the more than $16 billion allocated by the International Monetary Fund to Ukraine, although the bill is not enough to overcome consequences of the world's financial crisis for the country, according to Serhiy Tihipko, chairman of Swedbank and co-chairman of the Ukrainian government’s Council of Investors. |
Anti-AIDS Fund calls for increased help from Ukrainian businesses
KIEV, Oct. 26 – Olena Franchuk's AntiSPID [anti-AIDS] Fund, as well as the offices of the UN and the USAID in Ukraine and the Global Fund to fight HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria, has called on Ukrainian business to take more active part in stopping the spread of HIV/AIDS in Ukraine. |
It’s official: Election results published
 KIEV, Oct. 28 – Ukraine’s parliamentary election was officially validated on Saturday when two official newspapers printed names of elected lawmakers following a court ruling that deemed the vote as free and fair. |
