ArcelorMittal starts building $100 million continuous casting machine

KIEV, Dec. 13 - ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih (Dnipropetrovsk region) has started building its second continuous-casting machine and a ladle furnace with an annual capacity of 1.4 million tons of steel, investing over $100 million.


Prosecutor opens embezzlement case against VAB Bank officials

KIEV, Dec. 13 – The Prosecutor General's Office (PGO) in Kiev has opened a criminal case over embezzlement on an especially large scale against officials of insolvent VAB Bank and its owner Oleh Bakhmatiuk.


Swedish pellet burners producer showing interest in Vinnytsia parcel

VINNYTSIA, Dec. 10 – Sweden's Jals Energy AB, a pellet burners producer, has showed its interest in a land parcel in Sokolets (Vinnytsia region) to build a workshop producing straw pellets and create the energy equipment and servicing center, the Vinnytsia Regional Administration reported.


Ukrainian coking plants increase imports of coal and coal concentrate

KIEV, Dec. 10 – Coking plants in Ukraine imported 9.1 million tons of coking coal and coal concentrate in January-November 2015, which is 1% up from a year ago.

The Metallurgprom association told Interfax-Ukraine that coal imports from Russia over the period fell by 19%, to 4.8 million tons.


National Bank makes adjustments stemming from holiday schedule

KIEV, Dec. 11 – The National Bank of Ukraine has transferred the working day of the banking system from Friday, January 8, to Saturday, January 16, 2016, the NBU said on its website.


Shipment of coal from South Africa reported delayed one month

KIEV, Dec. 13 - Centrenergo expects that the second ship with coal from South Africa will arrive only on January 25, although earlier Energy and Coal Industry Minister Volodymyr Demchyshyn had said that the ship would arrive on December 12.


Fininpro places $550 million of 9% 5yr eurobonds via Morgan Stanley

KIEV, Dec. 11 - State enterprise Financing of Infrastructure Projects (Fininpro) has placed eurobonds worth $550 million at 9% per annum under state guarantees.

According to the prospectus of the eurobond issue, they were issued on December 7 2012, for five years with semi-annual coupon payments.


NBU ready to expand refinancing of banks , says cenbank governor

KIEV, Dec. 12 – The average hryvnia deposit rates in 2013 could fall to 15-17% per annum, while for currency deposits they will remain at a level lower than 10%, according to National Bank of Ukraine Governor Serhiy Arbuzov.


EnergoAtom and Gidropress discuss boosting Ukraine nuke capacity

KIEV, Dec. 12 – EnergoAtom and Russia's OSJC Gidropress experimental and design organization have discussed issues of the maintenance of units of nuclear power plants in Ukraine (with VVER-1000 and VVER-440 reactors built under designs of the bureau, EnergoAtom has reported.


2,000 employees face ax as Dnipropetrovsk tire plant goes under

DNIPROPETROVSK, Dec. 13 – Ukraine's second-largest tire producer, Dnipropetrovsk-based OJSC Dniproshyna plant, plans to dismiss 2,100 employees late in January 2013 in connection with the liquidation of the company, according to the chairman of the plant's trade union committee, Mykola Bodnar.
