Viber tops list of Ukraine’s most popular messenger apps: Kyivstar

KYIV, Feb 16 – Viber messenger app is the most popular application used on Ukrainian cell phones, followed by Facebook Messenger, Telegram and WattsApp, according to data released by Kyivstar, the country’s biggest cell phone company.


Ukraine’s Metinvest reports net income up 54% on year to $526-mln in 2020

KYIV, Feb 16 - Metinvest B.V., Ukraine’s largest steel and mining company, increase net income by 54% to $526 million in 2020 from $341 million in 2019, the company reported Tuesday.

The company said its profit margin rose to 5% in 2020 from 3% in 2019.


Naftogaz plans to build $145.7-mln LPG plant in Kharkiv region

KYIV, Feb 15 – Ukrgazvydobuvannia, part of Naftogaz Group, has announced a tender for the purchase of an in-depth hydrocarbon extraction unit with an expected cost of $145.72 million for the construction of the country's largest LPG plant at Krestyschenske gas processing department (Kharkiv region).


Naftogaz, OMV Petrom sign deal to jointly produce natural gas in Ukraine

Nova Poshta plans no restrictions on packages from China amid coronavirus

KYIV, Feb 14 – Nova Poshta International does not plan to suspend delivery of items to/from China, the company's press service has told Interfax-Ukraine.

"As regards parcels from China, they are delivered as usual. For this, when ordering from Aliexpress, customers need to specify the Aliexpress Standard Shipping delivery service and select the nearest Nova Poshta office from the list of available ones," the company noted.


Ukrainian economy slows down growth to 1.5% on year in Q4

KYIV, Feb 14 – The growth of gross domestic product (GDP) of Ukraine in October-December 2019 amounted to 1.5% compared to the same period in 2018, while in the previous quarters the growth rate was higher: 4.1% in the third, 4.6% in the second and 2.5% in the first.


Odesa seaport increases 4.67% on year cargo handling in January

KYIV, Feb 13 – Odesa seaport handled 2.03 million tons of cargo in January 2020, which is 4.67% more than in January 2019.

According to the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, for the specified period, the port increased the transshipment of exported cargo by 15.2% compared to January last year to 1.622 million tons, reduced the transshipment of imported goods – by 17.9%, to 306,000 tons, cabotage goods – by 35.9% to 98,190 tons. Transshipment of transit cargo decreased by 52.5% to 1,830 tons.


Energoatom reduces power generation 3.5% on year in January

KYIV, Feb 13 – Poqwer generation by all power plants of state-owned enterprise Energoatom in January 2020 decreased by 3.5% (by 285.1 million kWh) compared to the same period last year, to 7.826 billion kWh.
