The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) bought UAH 970.164 million in cash from European central banks, which Ukrainian refugees exchanged for local currency in 2022, the central bank reported on Facebook. The return of cash hryvnia was carried out within the framework of the NBU project with Narodowy Bank Polski: at the end of November, the Ukrainian central bank received the entire volume of hryvnia exchanged by Ukrainians abroad under an agreement between the NBU and the central banks of ten European countries.
