Ukraine ups imports of anthracite coal 17.1% on year in Jan-May Journal Staff Report
Ukraine in January-May 2021 increased imports of hard coal and anthracite (according to foreign economic activity code 2701) by 17.1% (by 1.257 million tons) compared to the same period in 2020, to 8.607 million tons. According to the State Customs Service, coal was imported for $814.762 million, which is 1.5% more than in January-May 2020 ($802.408 million). Coal was imported from the Russian Federation for $495.032 million (share in imports 60.76%), the United States – for $172.336 million (21.15%), Kazakhstan – for $99.073 million (12.16%), and other countries – for $48.321 million (5.93%).
