Ukraine consumer sentiment rose last year, GfK Ukraine survey shows
KIEV, Jan. 19 - Consumer sentiment in Ukraine improved for the fifth consecutive month in December and by the end of 2015 was slightly higher than a year earlier, according to monthly research by GfK Ukraine.
"Against the background of a lack of negative news and a gradual macroeconomic stabilization, pessimism in relation to personal status in December weakened, which led to an increase in consumer sentiment as a whole," the company said.
According to GfK Ukraine, an integrated consumer sentiment index in December 2015 on a scale of 0 to 200 rose from 50 to 53.1 compared to 52.6 in December 2014.
The current status index in December grew by 5.1 percentage points, to 48.4, however this is still lower than in December 2014 - 49.9 points.
The company experts specified that among the components of the current status index the index of current personal financial position increased by 3.9 percentage points, to 36.8, while the index of appropriateness to make large purchases by 6.4 percentage points, to 60. (om/ez)
