Government resumes operation of commission to protect investor rights

KIEV, May 29 – The Ukrainian government has resumed the operation of the interagency commission for the protection of the rights of investors and preventing illegal seizures of companies, and upgraded its status, First Deputy Prime Minister Serhiy Arbuzov, who heads the commission, has reported.


Officials meet to discuss extension of Zaporizhia nuclear reactors

KIEV, May 29 – The State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate and EnergoAtom met at Zaporizhia nuclear power plant to discuss extending the life of reactor one and reactor two of the plant.


Ukraine sells off state-owned stakes in five concentrating mills

KIEV, May 30 – The State Property Fund, at a trading session on Kiev's Innex stock exchange on Wednesday, has sold state-owned stakes in five concentrating mills worth UAH 11.968 million.

Odessa Oil Refinery to accept batch of crude from sea in June

KIEV, May 30 – Odessa oil refinery, which is under control of VETEK Group, will accept a batch of crude oil from the sea in June.

"A batch of crude oil could be delivered to the refinery by sea in June," the group said.

Karpatnaftokhim starts production of suspension polyvinylchloride

MOSCOW, May 27 – Karpatnaftokhim (Kalush, Ukraine, part of LUKOIL group) has started production of suspension polyvinylchloride (PVC-S).

LUKOIL said that the planned capacity of the new facility is 300,000 tons of PVC per year. The investment in the project, the realization of which started in 2007, has reached $236 million.


Trade group comes out against introduction of car import quotas

KIEV, May 30 – The Ukrainian Association of Car Importers and Dealers believes that the initiative of the Ukrainian authorities to introduce car import quotas if a free trade zone with the European Union is created is unacceptable.
