KIEV, Feb. 12 - Ukraine boosted ferroalloy output 280% year-on-year in January to 122,400 tons, the Ukrainian Ferroalloy Producers' Association told Interfax.
Nikopol Ferroalloy Works (NFW), the biggest of Ukraine's three smelters, raised silicon manganese production 220% to 57,700 tons, and ferromanganese shot up to 18,900 tons, from just 200 tons in January 2009. Overall ferroalloy output at Nikopol grew 320% year-on-year to 76,600 tons.
The EastOne Group, set up towards the end of 2007 when the Interpipe corporation was being restructured, and the Privat Group control NFW.
