KIEV, Feb. 10 – Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko insists on recounting ballots at more than 900 polling stations throughout Ukraine as part of a plan to contest the presidential election, the chief of her campaign said Wednesday.
Tymoshenko has likely lost the runoff to opposition leader Viktor Yanukovych, but plans to mount a legal challenge in order to reverse the result.
Oleksandr Turchynov, the first deputy prime minister and the chief of the Tymoshenko campaign, said campaign lawyers already submitted demands to the Central Election Committee urging to recount the ballots.
