KIEV, Dec. 15 - President Viktor Yushchenko by his decree authorized Energy and Fuel Minister Yuriy Prodan to sign later this month the European Energy Community treaty, the presidential press service reported Tuesday.

Ukraine is expected to sign the treaty on December 18 as the first step in integrating its energy trading and supply systems, including natural gas pipelines, into the European framework.
