MOSCOW, Sept. 16 – Ukraine's statements about the upcoming negotiations with Russia regarding plans to make some adjustments to the two countries' existing gas agreements run contrary to the usual business practice, Russian Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko told reporters.

"The long-term agreements are the foundation and the cornerstone for guaranteeing stable [gas] shipments to Ukraine and Europe," Shmatko said adding that these agreements are transparent and legitimate.
