ASHGABAT, Sept. 15 – Ukraine wants to resume direct supplies of gas from Turkmenistan and hopes that upcoming talks on this issue will be successful, said Bohdan Sokolovsky, the Ukrainian president's commissioner for international energy security.
"The position of Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko is very concrete – we are interested in resuming direct [gas] supplies from Turkmenistan, taking into account the interests of all third parties concerned, [meaning] transit countries," he told Ukrainian journalists in Ashgabat.
