KIEV, Sept. 4 - Naftogaz Ukrayiny paid $667 million to Russian gas giant Gazprom on Friday, covering imports of natural gas in August, the national gas company said.

“Today we completely paid for Russian natural gas supplied to Ukraine in August,” a Naftogaz spokesman said. “The payment was made in full.”

Naftogaz made the payment three days ahead of schedule. The company needs to make monthly payments within the first week of each next month to comply with a natural gas agreement signed in January.
