KIEV, Sept. 1 - President Viktor Yushchenko will travel to Turkmenistan later this month to try to secure an alternative to Russian supplies of natural gas, a senior official said Tuesday.

Bohdan Sokolovskiy, Yushchenko’s top energy envoy, said the supplies of gas from Turkmenistan that will help to meet growing demand when economies throughout the region recover from severe economic crisis.
