DONETSK, Aug. 2 – Ukraine won the UEFA European Under-19 soccer championship on home soil Sunday as a goal early in each half from Denys Garmash and Dmytro Korkishko earned a victory against England in Donetsk.

President Viktor Yushchenko and Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko both congratulated the team with the important victory as Ukraine, jointly with Poland, prepares to host the Euro-2012 soccer championship.
